As an animal lover living in San Diego, you may be on the lookout for dog parks in San Diego where you and your pooch can bask in the sun on lazy afternoons. Beautiful Balboa Park is home to several worthwhile areas, including three of the best dog parks in San Diego. You’ll be pleased to learn that these parks aren’t far from those enjoying luxury living in San Diego. Here’s a look at the qualities of each dog park.
Grape Street Dog Park
This dog park is located near the intersection of Grape and 28th Streets, on the east side of Balboa Park. The area spans 5 acres, which makes it the largest of the three dog parks in San Diego’s Balboa Park. Amenities include wide grassy fields, mature eucalyptus trees on the park’s perimeter, two dog water fountains and public restrooms for people. The park is leash-free Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and weekends from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Nate’s Point Dog Park
This park is located on the West Mesa, just south of El Prado/Laurel Street. The leash-free section of the park is about 2.3 acres, and is open 365 days a year. This dog park in San Diego is fully enclosed with a fence and features drinking fountains, picnic tables and a double-entry gate. The park continues to be developed thanks to local support of the improvement plan.
Morley Field Dog Park
Between the Morley Field Sports Complex and Florida Drive sits Morley Field Dog Park. The entrance is located near the intersection of Alabama Street and Morley Field Drive, where you will also find plenty of free parking spaces. The leash-free area of the park is a huge grassy field with small trees and stations that dispense litterbags for your convenience. You can also put your dog back on a leash and explore the nearby Florida Canyon Nature Trails.
